We are Christians and we are 'Reformed'.
As Christians our faith has been practiced since the beginning of time in
the Garden of Eden, when the first gospel promise of a coming Savior, Jesus
Christ, was given after mankind's great fall into sin and separation from
God.
As an organized church we have our
characteristic roots in the Western European Protestant Reformation of the
16th and 17th centuries. During that time the church sought to reform itself
by returning to the Biblical principles of: the Word of God alone, faith in
Christ alone, salvation by grace alone, and that all glory is to be given to
God alone.
We belong to the Free
Reformed Churches of North America, which has 17 churches in the U.S. and
Canada, as well as a mission church in Guatemala. Our denomination was
established in the early 1900s by immigrants who came to North America from
the Netherlands.
Our local church was instituted in
Passaic, NJ in 1921. In 1951 as the church grew we moved to Clifton, NJ. In
2000 we relocated to Pompton Plains, NJ where we first built a fellowship
hall to worship in and in the fall of 2003 our new sanctuary was completed.
